MC4 connectors are single-contact electrical connectors commonly used for connecting solar panels. The MC in MC4 stands for the manufacturer Multi-Contact and the 4 for the 4 mm diameter contact pin.

MC4 connector for M42 is used to connect a solar panel to a DC input to MacPower model M42 inverter. This plugs nicely into the socket that comes with standard solar panels and connects at the other end to the DC5521 input to the MacPower inverter. You may cut the connector at the middle and join wire of similar thickness to extend the lenght of the cable.
